I met Lou and Tony for the first time last summer. We did their first Couples Session at The Hive House in St. Paul, complete with popcorn and root beer! This year Lou opted for an outdoor location.
I wanted to find a new location I hadn't shot at before. About a month before their session, I had been over in the Hastings area for something else and I'd thought there must be something that would work around that area, and I stumbled upon what is now one of my favorite locations. There were so many options for scenery in a relatively small space--I knew it would be just perfect.
Normally I come equipped with lots of prompts for getting natural laughs and smiles, but these two are always laughing--it was getting them to be serious that was the tricky part!
After receiving their gallery, Lou was my first client to take me up on my zero obligation product consults I recently started offering. I've always offered products since I started this business, but they were always just sort of there. I didn't necessarily point them out to my clients. They were just there in case they noticed and wanted to purchase something.
I avoided in-person sales for the longest time. I don't like being salesy, and I don't want anyone to ever feel pressured to have to buy anything additional from me beyond their initial investment in a session, but I recently realized that if my clients are looking for heirloom quality products, if that's something they already know they want, then I am actually doing them a disservice. That's when I decided I could sell products without having to be salesy, and I do that by offering zero obligation product consults where you can see and feel the actual products you can purchase from me in your gallery. Want to make your purchase during our meeting with my help? No problemo! We can do that. Want to wait a few days? That's fine too! Decide you don't want anything? That's ok, and there's no charge for it.
I was glad to hear Lou and Tony didn't feel pressured at all to buy anything from their gallery. That's my goal. I hate feeling pressured to buy, and I really don't want my clients to feel that way either. <3
